  REVIEW:

In Shrek The Third, the Shreks are expecting . . . little surprise, when you consider Eddie Murphy is a friend of the family!

Shrek is back with all the wonderful characters that made the first two movies so entertaining.  Time has passed since the last one and now the Frog King is dying.  Next in line for the throne is Shrek.  But he doesn’t want to be king.  Although he may not want to take his place at the throne, Prince Charming definitely does.  Charming recruits all the fairytale villains to help him take over Far Far Away.  Fiona, now expected some babies, and the rest of the princesses decide to take on Charming.  In the meantime, Shrek is off with Puss and Donkey trying to find Arthur, another heir to the throne.  To set is all straight, they will have to all help each other and get a little assistance from a crazy wizard.

They call it Shrek the Third because it’s . . . well, you know, the 3rd Shrek.  If you liked the first two, you’ll like this one.  Even though the idea of spoofing fairy tales seems cliché now, and even though the novelty of the celebrity voices is wearing thin, this Shrek is well written with, of course, amazing animation.  In fact, the movie’s most entertaining moments have little to do with the dialogue.  They are instead the product of great “acting” – extraordinary expressions and actions of the characters.  Shrek the Third is by no means brilliant, but it’s impressive – and, more importantly, fun!

On the Movie Night Traffic Light on a scale of GREEN meaning “Go – it’s a must see”, YELLOW meaning “Caution – it’s okay” and RED meaning “No - stop don’t do it."

We rate Shrek the Third GREEN.  Go – This is great for the whole family.
